Logos

In the beginning was the Word (Logos), and the Word (Logos) was with God, and the Word (Logos) was God[1].

- John 1:1

We did it! Nine months after this website's launch, the final Envoy Art Ministry logo is birthed!  I am feeling so proud to have co-created this image with God, yippee!  Yeah, I could have expedited the process using push-button technology but there’s something to be cherished about seeing your hand drawings morph successfully through the design process while life outside of Art is happening all around you. Imagine that. I am so grateful to God for guiding me and giving me the creativity and vision to make it. The central image of my logo is a sword-billed hummingbird that is hovering over a Passiflora mixta (flower), inside a circle. Interestingly, the symbolism of a hummingbird is joy, healing, playfulness, beauty, and messenger. These characteristics are how I see Envoy Art Ministry operating. Did you know that the sword-billed hummingbird is the only species of bird to have a bill longer than the rest of its body? Its scientific name is Ensifera ensifera, Latin for “Sword-bearing sword-bearer.[2]” This meaning resonates with me as I think about the Word of God being the Sword that He provides us with to fight natural and spiritual battles, transform relationships, and better understand Him. More tersely: Ephesians 6:17 instructs us to take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word [Logos] of God (so that we can stand firm against the schemes of this world); Luke 9:6 mentions that the 12 apostles proclaimed the good news [Logos] and healed people everywhere (some were healed by hearing and believing God’s Word); Revelation 14:6 references an angel with the eternal gospel [He is the Alpha and Omega, and Logos] to proclaim to those who live on the earth—to every nation, tribe, language, and people. We too are to satisfy the Great Commission by skillfully wielding the Sword through the gifts God has bestowed on us.

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)

For the final touch of the logo design, I placed Hebrew script on one of the flower petals,אלהים, which means Ĕlōhīm (God the Creator). God is the Almighty Creator. Without Him, I could make nothing. Nada. Nichts. The meaning of the circle is a simple reminder: Don’t Stop Making Art! Your eternal Father is by your side.
